Mumbai boy dies at dahi handi rehearsal

On Saturday, Kiran Tarekar (14), a resident of Sanpada sector 5, fell from a human pyramid at a dahi handi practice session and passed away.

The NMMC hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Prashant Jawade, said, “Tarekar was brought to our hospital on Saturday at around 10 am and was declared dead on arrival.”

The Mumbai police has now ordered that all dahi handi mandal organisers submit a written statement that none of the mandals will involve children under 12 years in festivities. If the mandals fail to do so, the police will not let them conduct practice sessions.
