A group of 30 staff and doctors from Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivli, have come together to overthrow their administrative medical officer Dr Haridas Rathod, who they alleged was appointed unconstitutionally in 2016, by former chief medical officer Dr Pradeep Jadhav.

The post is to be given to a senior doctor, with experience of 18 to 20 years as medical officer. "But, Dr Rathod had barely completed one year as MO," a doctor alleged. "In return, he has been giving lakhs of rupees to Dr Jadhav and other doctors, from the profits he was making by extorting patients," the doctor alleged.

Another doctor said that Dr Rathod would source medicines in bulk from his wife's business and another doctor's wife. Dr Rathod said, "These complainants are trying to harass me because they have received memos for illegally practising outside," he said. Dr Jadhav claimed that he had "neither appointed Dr Rathod nor been in contact with him".
