A senior television journalist, on his way to the CBI's BKC office, was physically assaulted and verbally abused in the train during the morning hours, today. According to sources, some commuters assaulted Sudhir Shukla, who boarded the train from Mira Road, for trying to capture on video a brawl inside the compartment. Shukla sustained head injuries in the incident.

Speaking to mid-day, the journalist from a leading Hindi channel said, "I was heading to the CBI office to cover the Nirav Modi case. Mira Road station was overcrowded when I reached the platform. Somehow, even when there's space inside the train, some commuters tend to block the entry to the compartments. Around 7 am, I managed to jostle my way into the train, but the commuters inside started abusing people who boarded from Mira Road station for being rowdy. I tried to diffuse the tension by urging them to remain calm because, at the end of the day, all a commuter wants is to reach his/her destination safely and on time. Several other commuters also tried to pacify this group standing near the compartment's entrance, but to no avail."

It was then that Shukla took out his phone to capture a video of this brawl, but a few members of the group, who were standing behind him, allegedly snatched his phone. "They started assaulting me for taking a video of the incident. One of them held me by my collar and threatened to throw me out of the train," the journalist said.

Shukla got down at Andheri station and approached the Government Railway Police. A GRP officer said, "We have initiated a probe into the incident. We are going through CCTV footage to identify all the accused."
