The state is on a station renaming spree and the latest is Elphinstone Road. After the CR changed Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus barely a week ago, the WR authorities have taken the baton and renamed Elphinstone Road station as Prabhadevi.

Officials from WR stated that following the order issued by the commercial department, the name change would come into effect from July 23. "With the name change, the station code of Prabhadevi will be PBHD," said a WR official. This code will be printed on the rail ticket bought from the railway stations and soon the boards will also be replaced with the new name. The railway officials also clarified that the name change is a state government decision, which they are simply implementing.
