All children upto 12 years of age and/or upto 4 feet tall accompanied by parents would be offered safe and comfortable ride on the Mumbai Metro free of cost between any two stations over the weekend. However, parents or any other adults, who will accompany the children, would have to purchase tokens or use smart cards to utilise the service.
"Children are the tomorrow's citizens and so it is a necessity to give them exposure to a world class transport service, which, till recently, all of them were unaware of. A metro joy ride would be a life time experience for them. We hope children in large scale would avail this free service along with their parents and guardians."
The Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) will deploy additional staff at all stations to ensure children’s safety and also assist them in safely boarding and deboarding the trains.
