Financial crisis forced a 28-year-old tailor from Khasgaon village to commit suicide on Friday. Mahaveer Gosawi hanged himself from a newly built skywalk in Dadar with his wife's saree in the wee hours of Friday. The police said the Western Railway (WR) GRP informed them about the incident around 9 am.

Sources said that when the WR GRP reached the spot, officials of the Central Railway GRP were already present. After an hour-long jurisdiction tussle, they informed the Shivaji Park police about the incident and sent the body to Sion hospital for post-mortem.

Mahaveer, who hails from Aurangabad, had shifted to Khasgaon village with his wife and children four years back. He was running his own tailoring shop, which he had taken on rent. According to the police, he must have hanged himself in the wee hours of Friday, as no one spotted him in the act.

Speaking to mid-day, Mahaveer's brother Sanjay said, "I don't think my brother was going through any problem. Around a week back, he came to Aurangabad to drop off his family, as they wished to attend a spiritual rally. His phone was switched off for the past three days. On Friday, the police informed us that he had hanged himself from the skywalk."

The police have recovered a suicide note from his pocket, in which it has been mentioned that he was going through a financial crisis. He had borrowed some money and was unable to return it, and hence, decided to end his life.
