Lalu and Nitish on Shatrughan
Celebrated Mumbai film journalist Bharathi S Pradhan, was in Patna recently, and was spotted at Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Circular Road bungalow in Patna. It lies smack opposite current CM and political partner, Nitish Kumar’s residence. Pradhan speaks of her quick trip, “Of course, I called him ‘Laluji’ while he kept addressing me as ‘Madam’. My digital tape recorder has only one interview of this kind on it — an interview in Bhojpuri/Hindi and a bit of English too. Apart from asking his staff to serve me bel-grami, a Bihari sweet, Laluji also gave me the full recipe for it in a mix of Bhojpuri and English!” But why was she there? The journo reveals, “I met Lalu Prasad Yadav to get a non-BJP perspective on controversial MP Shatrughan Sinha. I also met Nitish Kumar on this trip for the very same reason.”

We hear Pradhan is penning a book on the actor-politician. She confirms saying, “I wanted LPY (acronym for Lalu), and Nitish Kumar to talk to me for my authorised biography on Shatrughan Sinha. Unlike other celebrity bios, this is not a prolonged fan letter but I hope a readable and forthright assessment of the celebrity, covering both the glamour world of Mumbai and the backroom politics of the capital city.”
A combustible cocktail, though Pradhan would not reveal anything more about the book, except that the manuscript has been submitted to Om Books International. For political followers wondering if the actor and BJP MP is a friend of the BJP or a foe, given his recent comments, we cannot wait to get their our hands on the title. ‘Om Shanti Om’ is all we have to say.

The 'Ba' necessities
Mere paas Ba hai: When feeling low, puns always get us in an upbeat mood.
This iconic dialogue from the Hindi film, Deewar came to our mind when we saw a partly-malfunctioned signage of a popular shoe brand store in Parel.
Chai over sarod strains
It’s not everyday that one gets to hear an instrumental version of Vande Mataram. Naturally, we were piqued, and so we checked out the new video track that features the sarod maestro, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan along with his sons, Amaan and Ayaan. We loved the soulful, ear-pleasing melody.

It was heartwarming to see the troika come together for this Independence Day tribute. Our only grouse - we wish Khan senior had avoided taking that sip of the tea in the video which ended up looking more like a forced product placement of the brand for which this video has been created!
