The city — sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce

Zumba with Mr Boombastic
Unless you're living under a rock, by now you'd know that over the weekend, Shaggy descended for a gig in the city after a 12-year hiatus. The '90s Pop and Reggae sensation belted out hits like Oh Carolina, Boombastic, It Wasn't Me and Angel to a packed house.

What's more, he also surprised the crowd by trying to match moves with instructor Sucheta Pal and her team, who got on the stage and did a little Zumba jig to Shaggy's I Got You and That Love! While we missed the moment, at least now we know what songs to add to our workout playlist.

Dylan's words
Even as the world debates this year's Nobel Prize for Literature (and the Nobel Prize committee gives up on contacting Bob Dylan) publishers have plunged into bringing out tomes on the legendary singer-songwriter already. Two titles hitting the shelves this November are Dylan Goes Electric and Tarantula. The former is about that July day in 1965 when Dylan, who was by then a leading songwriter of the American Folk music revival, performed his first electric concert, which didn't go down well with some of the audience members.

Written by musician-writer-Grammy winner Elijah Wald, the book certainly promises new insights into the controversial day. Tarantula, a collection of poems and prose by Dylan himself, reflects the circumstances of the turbulent '60s when they were written. Reissued to coincide with the paperback release of 'Chronicles Volume 1', the publishers have sure got the timing right.

Congrats Comrade(s) Sheth
It has been a week since Mumbai marathoner and ultra runner, (an ultrathon is a race above the traditional 42-km marathon) Amit Sheth, became the first Indian to win the Old Mutual Spirit of Comrades Award 2016 at the annual awards gala of the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA), held in Durban, South Africa. The Comrades of course, is a 90-km race and is the most recognisable and famous race on the ultra circuit. The 'Spirit' award is for exemplifying the spirit of the Comrades marathon.

"It is not for being the fastest," explains Amit, who got a gold medal with a certificate. Amit's stellar charity work through running and his book Dare to Run make him a runner with a difference. Here's to the spirit of South Africa's toughest race, best embodied by a Juhu man. As for celebrations? We hope Sheth had some of the spirited kind.

In support of girls' education
It's a cause that has support from across the world. But when famous faces endorse it, it sure is a shot in the arm. While Let Girls Learn, a US government initiative aimed at helping adolescent girls attain a quality education, has FLOTUSâu00c2u0080u00c2u0088Michelle Obama fully invested in it, back home, Rising Girls India, a campaign for girls' education is gaining traction among celebrities, too.

Recently, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt retweeted a film made by the campaign's team, where girls wearing a mask of a boy's face ask their parents if their attitude to their education would be different had they been boys. Quite a message, this!

Films under the skies
While the city lacks a drive-in theatre, here's a chance for film buffs to enjoy open-air cinema. The second edition of an eight-weekend cultural fest at Ballard Estate, which starts from next weekend, will host Silent Cinema, where guests can lounge in comfy seats under the open sky and enjoy movies wearing cordless headsets.

While we're eager to check this out, we're also intrigued by trampoline and Segway activities that the fest has organised, besides the usual heritage walks, pet fair, flea market and food trucks at the venue. Considering the flurry of events and the hype around the festival that had watered down towards the last few weekends of the previous edition, we'll be keeping a close eye on how this edition pans out.
