In late November, mid-day had told you about a cool city-inspired boardgame for kids called My Mumbai.

The illustrations, created by 25-year-old Abhishek Panchal, include colouring sheets of people, celebrations, transport and places. Each sheet has city trivia and a do-it-yourself map, too. Look out for quintessential Mumbaikars including the Vada Pav seller, the Dabbawala, and a Koli fisherwoman.
There are also scenes from Ramazan celebrations at Mohammed Ali Road and Lalbaugcha Raja visarjan that kickstarts from Lalbaug Flyover. Now we hear that this delightful boardgame will be available at
Kitab Khana in Fort. A novel way, we think, to introduce your child to the chaos and charm of aamchi Mumbai.
For our little green thumbs
Guided nature walks, science shows, family scavenger hunts (that would be fun!) and other interactive sessions have been lined up by the folks behind One With Nature, a two-day event that will be held at the Maharashtra Nature Park (opposite Dharavi Bus Depot) on January 9-10.
Open for kids from two to 15 years, it promises to be a heady mix of celebration and education on all things green.

Gangster Chhota Rajan, currently holed up in Delhi's high security Tihar jail, has shown interest in one thing, say jail officials — Tihar’s massive kitchen which feeds over 3,500 inmates.

Rajan wants to spends time in the kitchen, interact with cooks and create some “signature” dishes. The jail authorities are, obviously flummoxed and have sought clearances from higher ups.
Jingle Bells with the Ustad
“Experimented with something different in the spirit of #Christmas,” posted music legend Ustad Amjad Ali Khan after he uploaded a soulful rendition of the popular Christmas carol, Jingle Bells, on Facebook on Christmas Eve.

Look who was in town!
Last week, Joe Walsh, guitarist-singer-composer and prolific member of the legendary American Rock band, The Eagles, was in town.
Accompanied by his wife Marjorie, Walsh was part of congregation of devotees of the Radhanath Swami-led ISCKON movement, who were on a spiritual trip to India. Walsh and his wife are followers of Radhanath Swami, a Vaishnava sanyasin and teacher of the devotional path of Bhakti-yoga.
Industrialist and fellow devotee Yash Birla hosted a satsang at Birla House attended by over 2,000 people. Walsh performed two Eagles’ songs on stage.
Walk through 18-feet-high doors!
Byculla’s Christ Church had recently welcomed its parishioners to a newly-restored avatar of the 182-year-old church. This diarist was fortunate to get a walkthrough its stunning insides by the conservation architect Vikas Dilawari.
