The city — sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce
Va va voom at Liberty
Our new favourite venue in the city, Liberty Cinema, is hosting another out-of-the-ordinary event today. This one is a seminar and classic auto display, and begins at 4.30pm.

Organised by the vintage and classic automobile club Osianama, the evening begins with a guided tour of the classic vehicles on display, which is followed by a keynote address on the historical contribution of women in motorsport by Michele Mouton, the world’s fastest woman car rallyist, who is visiting Mumbai.
Then comes the main event, a seminar and panel discussion on The Art of Motorsport: India, Women, Patrimony and Classic Assets. At 9pm there will be a screening of the documentary Senna (106 minutes), on the late Brazilian Formula One star Ayrton Senna.
The best part? Admission is free.
What: Seminar, classic automobile display, film screening
When: March 27, 4.30pm onwards
Where: Liberty Cinema, New Marine Lines
Bridal show heads for city... and trouble?
Delhi's Bridal Asia show, that has been showcasing designer ware for brides-to-be for 16 years, is now headed to Mumbai. Some of the biggest names who will be participating at the event include Manish Arora, Suneet Varma, Rohit Bal, Falguni & Shane Peacock, and Tarun Tahiliani.

While big designers exhibiting in the city is not a biggie, what caught our eye is that this event, scheduled to happen from April 10 to 12, will be held at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) stadium in Worli.
The city is still not over the Jerry Seinfeld debacle in which the actor’s performance, which was to have been held at the same venue, was cancelled at the last moment. Bridal Asia is also scheduled similarly over a weekend, and we wonder whether the venue will be the centre of a controversy again.
Points to ponder, tongue in cheek
Notes that may help with daily decision-making, courtesy our favourite time-pass destination... Facebook.
1. Forgive your enemies but remember their names!
2. Money cannot buy happiness but it is more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than on a bicycle.
3. Help someone when they are in trouble, and they will remember you when they are in trouble again.
4. Many people are alive only because it is illegal to shoot them.
5. Alcohol does not solve any problems but then again, neither does milk.
Not such a pretty picture
The soft hues of the setting sun usually makes for a charming photograph, and every photographer (nowadays, that means everyone with a mobile phone camera) probably has at least one, if not one hundred, sunset pictures in their portfolio. But this particular picture, in Rabale, Navi Mumbai, is a result of dust-filled air due to ongoing road work.
It's air that’s full of dust particles. Pic/Shrikant Khuperkar
For people using the road every day, it is nothing short of a pollution nightmare. And it is the same scenario in other places where road work is going on. When monsoon comes it all turns to mud and slush, of course. We’re not sure which is worse! Maybe it’s just a reminder to us, like the song goes all we are is dust in the wind...
