This 19-year-old Uttar Pradesh native's visit to her relatives in the city turned into a horror on Sunday after she was allegedly molested, assaulted and kidnapped by three youths, including a minor, who held her hostage for hours because one of them was "in love" with her and wanted to profess the same. While the two youngsters have been arrested, the victim's family has alleged that a local woman politician has been putting pressure on their daughter to withdraw the case, because of which she's gone into shock.

Dark confinement
According to police sources, the victim had come from a village in UP three months ago to stay with her brother and sister-in-law. The two of them had later left for their village, leaving the girl behind to take care of their three children.

Narrating her ordeal to the police, the girl said that on Sunday morning she had stepped out of the house to answer nature's call, when the 18-year-old and his two friends ambushed her. The two said the youngster was in love with her and she must do exactly as he says. They bound and gagged her and switched off her mobile phone, confining her to a room in the youngster's house.

When she didn't return for a long time, people in the neighbourhood informed her family and started searching for her. The accused got wind of it and released her, threatening to kill her if she revealed what had happened to anybody. After she reached home, she told her family members about the incident but suddenly took ill and was admitted to a civic hospital.

No kidnapping charge
The Malwani police said a case under sections 354 (molestation), 442 (house trespass) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the three. The 18-year-old main accused was produced in court and sent to judicial custody, after his bail plea was rejected. The victim too has filed an application in court, seeking an FIR against the local politician. "We have sent a notice to the minor's family," said a police officer.
