The Vakola police on Monday arrested 65-year-old Rock Dsouza for allegedly killing his wife Selena Violet, 57, following a heated argument over payment of assessment tax. After strangulating her, he rushed her to the hospital, but she was declared dead. The police was notified after the doctors noticed marks around Selena's neck and the man was then arrested.

According to the police, Rock and his wife, Selena lived in their Sundernagar home in Kalina. On Sunday night, the two were having a discussion over the payment of the BMC's assessment tax, which quickly escalated into an argument. In a fit of anger, Rock then allegedly assaulted Selena and choked her on the floor. However, when he realised that she was not breathing, he called his neighbours for help and told them he had beaten her. Selena was then rushed to VN Desai Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.

A police official said, "The two had been arguing over the payment of the bill for the past couple of days, and they again had an argument on Sunday. We have booked the accused under section 302 of the IPC and he was produced before a court on Monday, which sent him to police custody."
