Despite the government saying that the wholesale price of tur dal has come down after the raids against hoarders in Mumbai, tur dal still costs above Rs 200 per kg, Nirupam said. "Government said the price has come down to Rs 160. But, it is not so," he added.
Common man is being put to hardship during the festive season, Nirupam said adding that the Mumbai Congress has decided to organise a two-day protest from Monday against the spiraling tur dal prices.
Referring to the seized dal from hoarders in different parts of the city, Nirupam alleged that hoarding in such a huge quantity was possible because of the political patronage.
Criticizing the ruling ally in the state, Nirupam said both BJP and Sena have been disregarding the people's mandate by indulging in political brinkmanship.
"If you want to fight, give up power. Don't disregard people's mandate," he said.
