Mumbai: Workers stumble upon skeleton at Kurla subway

Earlier this May, the Central Railway (CR) planned to restart work on the Kurla subway that was shut for nearly 10 years, but work began only in October. Yesterday, while digging at the spot, workers discovered a skeleton.

The officials from Kurla railway police said that they received a complaint around 12.30 pm that a skeleton had been discovered near platforms 8-9, which are on the east side of Kurla railway station.

This subway had been shut for many years after authorities realised it was prone to water logging during the monsoon. The officials from Central Railway said that the subway will be ready in the coming financial year.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is working on the west side approach, while the Railways are handling the east approach. The railway police said the skeleton was sent to Grant Medical College for further investigations.
