Police have booked two unidentified women who kidnapped a newborn baby from her mother while travelling with her in a share-auto at Mira Road. Mysteriously, the baby girl was found a day later in a local train at Borivli station. Police are also searching for the auto rickshaw driver who was taking the trio from Kashimira.

The infant was kidnapped on Tuesday evening
The incident took place on Tuesday evening, when the victim’s mother, Seema Chaurasia, a resident of Mira Road (East), had gone for a check-up at a hospital in Kashimira, with her 14-day-old baby girl. While returning, she took a share-auto with two other women on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. As they approached Kashimira Bridge, one of the women sprayed chloroform on her face and she fell unconscious.
Chaurasia woke up five minutes later and found herself in the auto in Mira Road, but her baby was missing. She asked the auto driver and he told her that the women had gotten off at the end of the bridge with the baby. “She told the auto driver to take her back to the bridge and got off to search her baby, but couldn’t find the infant or the women.
The driver also ran away from the spot,” said a police official from Kashimira police, whom the woman approached on Tuesday night to register the complaint. Senior Inspector Anil Kadam from Kashimira police station said, “We found the infant abandoned the next afternoon at Borivli station.
She was found in the handicapped compartment of a Borivli-Churchgate local, and was identified from her clothes. We have handed over the baby to her mother. We are taking Borivli GRP’s help to nab the accused. The women are unidentified, as we don’t have any CCTV footage of the area where the infant was kidnapped. Hopefully, the CCTV footage from the station will help us identify and arrest them.
