The Maharashtra State Federation of Junior College Teachers Organisation has written on this to state government, demanding that their long-pending issues be resolved. The federation, however, insists that students need not worry, and that there won’t be problems in conducting examination by teachers.
Anil Deshmukh, secretary of the federation, said, "Practical examinations are already being conducted at colleges. Similarly, even written examination will be conducted smoothly. So, students need not worry. However, we want government to consider our issues and provide solutions so we have declared this non-cooperation. The government has just been giving us false assurances. We want them to act on their words."
The assessment of papers technically begins on the same day as examination. With the non-cooperation declared by the teacher’s organisation, the same is likely to get affected.
Deshmukh further said, "There are several teachers awaiting salaries since their appointment in 2012. Teachers are continuing their work while government only keeps promising appropriate salary."
