Issues with display boards and aerobridge led to delays over the past two days

Mumbai: Glitches in display continue to plague Jet Airways at T2

Jet Airways’ troubles are far from over. Within just a day of 15 passengers missing flights and confusion nixing its smooth transition of its domestic operations from the new terminal 2 (T2) of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, four of its flights were on Wednesday delayed due to glitches with display boards. Another flight was delayed because of technical issues with an aerobridge.

According to airport officials, the airline and airport operator MIAL has been conducting various drills and training the ground staff to not only work efficiently but also manage their work on time.“Passengers will take time to become familiar with the terminal,” a senior airport official said.

“On Wednesday, passengers were confused after the display boards gave faulty information. Also in one of the cases, the connecting aerobridge had developed a technical issue that delayed the flight. 9W 625 to Kolkata was delayed by 20 minutes on Thursday, too.”

He suggested that passengers visiting T2 for the first time arrive earlier than planned. Airport and airline officials claimed that the operations would run smoothly by the weekend, even as they admitted that handling the large weekend crowd for the first time since the airline’s transition would be an arduous task.
