Nouman did not suffer any injuries. The family is in shock. The driver was removed from the taxi with the help of Fire Brigade after it was cut down. Gadkar was stuck in the car as the air bag had deployed and only after police came she was removed from the car. She was also in shock. She was saved only because of the air bag and did not suffer any major injuries.”

He added, “Gadkar had hit two vehicles just minutes before ramming the taxi. Those two vehicles’ drivers had taken a U-turn to tell her that she was on the wrong side but until then she had already hit the taxi.” A case was registered under sections 304 (2), 338, 337, 279 and 427 of IPC along with the Motor Vehicles Act. Gadkar was presented in the Kurla magistrate court and remanded in police custody till Wednesday. Police have sent her blood samples for analysis.

‘Charge her with murder’
A relative of the Sabuwalas said, “We got a call around 3:30 am and immediately rushed to Sion Hospital. The two girls and their mother were serious so we thought of shifting them to Saifee Hospital for better treatment. The family has suffered a huge loss. They had gone to celebrate as Nouman had passed his SSC and they were very happy for him.”

She added, “It did not take even a minute for the family to lose everything. Except for Nouman, all the remaining survivors are hospitalised. The children have lost their father. I am worried about Sadiya, who has constantly been asking about her mother and father. Nouman was very brave. He immediately helped call for a taxi and took his family to Sion Hospital.

The woman should be charged with murder. She killed two persons from two families. She is an advocate and she has committed such a crime. Salim uncle, who ran a detergent shop, was the sole breadwinner. Now we will take care of them.”
