The maiden venture of this therapy for the domestic travellers was on June 6 between 7.30 and 11.30 pm while for international commuters, the service commenced in September last year.
Pune-based Animal Angels Foundation has trained three female golden retrievers — Goldie, Pepe and Sunshine. The canine buddies will be serving the travellers on Friday through Sunday.
The complimentary service would be offered between 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm and 5 pm to 7 pm on rotational basis. For instance, if the service is offered between 7.30 pm and 11.30 pm on Friday, the same will be available on Saturday between 5 pm and 7 pm.
“After receiving good response from the international travellers, we decided to introduce the same for domestic ones,” said a senior MIAL official, adding that interested passengers can approach the dogs, who would be roaming in the airport with their volunteers.
