Mumbai: Decomposed body with gold anklets found in nullah

A woman’s decomposed dead body was found floating in a nullah near the Diva-Kopar railway tracks yesterday. A lineman, who saw the body, informed Dombivli government railway police and a case was registered.

The cops are investigating to find if it is an accident or a case of murder but the only clue that can help them identify her are the gold anklets she had on both her legs.

A lineman, while working on the tracks, smelled something foul and looked around. He discovered the body floating in the nullah.

“The line main informed the Dombivli station manager, who then informed the police. The body was shifted to Shashtri Nagar hospital in Dombivli, where she was declared dead by the doctor and was later shifted to Rukmani Bai hospital for post mortem,” said a police officer from Dombivli GRP.

The doctors also said the body must have been decomposing for over 15 days ago.

“We are further investigating the matter and have reported the case,” said Rajeshree Sarode, Police Inspector, Dombivli GRP.
