Mumbai: Cops on hunt for man over fake Rs 1,000 notes

The Pydhonie police is searching for a man who, trying to take benefit of the crowd in banks, tried to exchange 93 Rs 1,000 fake notes at Punjab and Maharashtra Co-Operative Bank.

The police has gathered CCTV footage from the bank. According to them the man, who hasn't been identified, visited the Carnac Bunder branch of the bank on Friday afternoon and tried to deposit Rs 93,000 — 93 notes of the demonetised Rs 1,000 notes.

However, these notes were fake. The cashier realised this and seeing this, the man left the bank, even though the bank officials tried to stop him.

For now, an unknown accused has been booked in the case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
