On Saturday, the conductor rail, expected to provide power to Monorail’s second phase, got dislocated and was left hanging between two piers. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
MMRDA Joint Project Director Dilip Kawatkar said, “Around 1.25 pm on Saturday, the conductor rail resting on the north beam on pier No.1C1 to pier No.1D1 running from Lower Parel to Mint colony got dislocated.” Authorities promised to tighten the conductor rail by midnight.
Residents said the mishap occurred after a trial run. “This has nothing to do with the trial runs; we are investigating the case,” said Sanjay Khandare, additional metropolitan commissioner.
