Mumbai: 'Harassed' ex sends legal notice to get back his BMW

Hell hath no fury like an ex scorned. A creative and business strategy consultant has sent a legal notice to his former girlfriend, demanding that she return the BMW car he gifted her and Rs 4.20 lakh he lent her over two years as well as a compensation of Rs 10 lakh.

The notice, sent by advocate Swapnil Ambure, states that Aman Khan, a resident of Worli, met the woman, an interior designer from Andheri, in 2004 through a mutual friend and the two began dating soon after. Khan alleged that she made promises of marriage, pressured him into funding her lavish lifestyle and picked quarrels with him when he failed to do so. This, said the notice, put him under tremendous stress. He also claimed that she used his credit card for her personal expenses, like foreign trips and shopping, and wheedled large sums of money out of him.

In March last year, the woman and her father allegedly put out a rider for marriage: gift her a BMW car. Convinced that he had no other go, Khan took a loan and bought the car last July. But the gift did little to mend the relationship, as Khan had hoped.

As soon she got her hands on the car, her temperament allegedly took a turn for the worse. The fights turned more aggressive and her behaviour more brusque. She allegedly even bad-mouthed Khan, making false allegations against him. The notice states that the floundering relationship began taking a toll on his health and career.

Demanding that the woman return the car, the notice states, “...it was very clear that you never wanted to marry him and your intention, along with your father’s, has only been to use Khan and extort as much money as you can from him by resorting to misrepresentations, false promises, emotional blackmails and threats.”

Khan has also demanded that she repay Rs 4.20 lakh along with accrued interest against the loans he gave her, and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for loss of reputation, harassment and mental stress.

A copy of the notice has been sent to the Worli police station.
