There have been many cases across Mumbai of cheating by people claiming to be police officers or family friends. Imposters relieve citizens of gold ornaments and cash. "We studied cheating cases from 2017 till date and noticed that most of these cases occur in crowded areas," said an officer from Mulund police station.
"Also imposters or cheats target mostly senior citizens and middle aged women. Cheats who commits such acts are so swift that they don't even need five minutes to con people. Hence, awareness is a must to prevent such cases" added the officer. Ravi Sardesai, senior inspector, Mulund police station said, "We are planning to carry out the drive from next week."
