A 25-year-old man was killed on Friday after a ladder of a huge crane collapsed near Amrutanjan bridge on the Mumbai-Pune expressway.

The incident took place at around 7.45 pm on Friday evening on the Mumbai-bound lane. The victim, identified as Ram Nayan, was a helper who was sitting behind the crane when the incident took place.

The accident led to around seven to eight cars ramming into each other after a person brought his car to a halt suddenly to see the accident.

"The ladder also fell on a car that was behind the crane, but no one was injured due to that. The traffic was cleared within an hour. The highway police cleared the crane from the spot. The victim hails from Uttar Pradesh," said API Salkhe from Khandala police station.
