Man arrested for trying to sell deer skin in Mumbai

A 38-year-old man was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly trying to sell skin of deer, police said today

Man arrested for trying to sell deer skin in Mumbai

A 38-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly trying to sell skin of deer, police said today. The city Crime Branch arrested the accused, identified as Mohammad Basid Naimuddin Basid (38), yesterday afternoon near Dreamland Theatre located in Grant Road area of South Mumbai.


Basid had come to sell the deer skin to a person for Rs 3.5 lakh and was arrested by the sleuths of Unit 2 Department of Crime Branch. Police said that they had received information that the accused would be coming to Grant Road area to sell the skin, following which a trap was laid and the accused was nabbed.


Basid has been booked under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and handed over to D B Marg police.
