Palghar: A 44-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his son-in-law over a domestic dispute, police said on Wednesday.

The accused's juvenile son was also taken into custody as he was party to the crime, they said. The victim, Sailesh Rajesh Pasare (25), of Dongri Vilat Pada in Talasari area of the district, had married the daughter of the accused, Rupji Balu Page, about four years back, police sub-inspector K S Patil said.


However, there was a dispute between the couple over various issues. Later, Pasare left his 22-year-old wife following which she sought divorce and filed for maintenance in a court.

Miffed with Pasare for having abandoned his daughter, Page, accompanied by his 17-year-old son, went to the house of the victim at around midnight on May 1 and attacked him with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot, Patil said. The Talasari police last night arrested Page and registered and offence against him under IPC sections 302 (murder), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

His son was also taken into custody and sent to a remand home in Bhiwandi, police added.
