Former MLA's son Satyendra Singh takes Colors to court saying it plagiarised his idea for the new reality wrestling show 100% - De Dhana Dhan, but channel refutes claim and says it has necessary rights

Colors's latest reality show on wrestling, 100% De Dhana Dhan, has run into trouble with a former Mumbai MLA's son, Satyendra Singh, claiming the show's concept was his idea and plagiarised by the production house for the channel. Singh has now approached the High Court petitioning that the show should not be broadcast.

"The whole concept is my baby. I had even registered the concept with the Film Writers Association on May 15, 2008. I was abroad when the show was in the process of being launched.

When I came back, the programme was already on air. That's when I knew I had to approach the court," said Singh.

"People in India do not care about copyright and original ideas and I want to prove a point here," said Singh.

But a Colors spokesperson said, "We are entitled to use the title 100%u00a0- De Dhana Dhan and have the necessary rights for the concept, script and story of the show.

The show was aired as per the announced schedule."

The Show

100 % - De Dhana Dhan is based on 100% Lucha, an Argentine wrestling show that has been localised by Endemol India for the sub-continent.

The show sees 12 Indian wrestlers pitted against their foreign counterparts. Two episodes have already aired, beginning on August 29.

Actress Isha Koppikar is the host, while actor Sharat Saxena manages the Indian wrestlers. Veteran wrestler and actor Dara Singh mentors the Indian team.
