Former Test captain Anil Kumble's academic accomplishments (he is a qualified engineer) coupled with his cricketing excellence earned him a contract with Manipal Education (ME) as its brand ambassador, two years ago.

Kumble is now on several posters seen at Elphinstone Road Bridge, outside the Antonio D'Silva School in Dadar and at the Dadar TT circle.

The banners publicise The Dadar College of Management's courses. The college is located inside the premises of the Antonio D'Silva institute in Dadar, near Kabutar Khana.

Kumble who is Bangalore-based said on the phone, "Since I have not been to Mumbai for some time, I have not seen the posters.

But apparently, the Dadar College is part of Manipal Education, for which I am a brand ambassador." Spokesperson for the Dadar College said, "We are affiliated to the Sikkim Manipal University.

Anil Kumble is their brand ambassador. So, we are allowed to use his picture."

Says V Sivaramakrishnan, chief marketing officer of ME,u00a0 "The Dadar College of Management is the official study centre of the Sikkim Manipal University.

We actually give our affiliates templates of Anil Kumble that they can use for their institutes. ME's objectives are creating leadership or excellence through social transformation.

Just like Kumble, who did not give up his education for cricket, our students, who are often working professionals, are encouraged to study further even while they work.

'Do not give up on your education' is the message Kumble epitomizes and that is a perfect match for our philosophy."u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
