A journalist was among two persons killed and another injured when their car rammed into the railing of a bridge at Savleshwar village in Sholapur district today.

38-yr-old Venkatesh Chapalgaonkar, who was the Pune bureau chief of Star Majha, the Star network's Marathi news channel, was on way to Sholapur to cover the filing of nomination papers by Union Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar when the mishap took place.

The identity of the other two occupants of the car was yet to be ascertained. Chapalgaonkar had uncovered the Chinkara killing case in which a Maharashtra minister was jailed.
