The Cambridge International Examination (CIE) on Thursday announced results of its second ever March series examination. Since implementation of this system last year, the number of students opting for it has more than doubled from 11,000 in 2015 to 26,000 this year. The March series of examination that was introduced to help CIE students sync with regular admission process in India is becoming much popular.

The CIE last year introduced the March series of examinations to cater to Indian students applying for admissions to India colleges and universities by releasing results in time of the May application deadlines.
Ruchira Ghosh, Regional Director South Asia, CIE, while congratulating students across India, said, “Since we introduced March series of examination in India last year, entries have more than doubled. We are delighted to see such an enthusiastic response form schools. this year we extended the series to include some popular Cambridge International AS & A level subjects – specifically to help our Cambridge learners bridge gap between the international board examinations and the application cycles for India universities. We are really pleased to support students in gaining entry to higher education in India.”
Principal of Utpal Sanghvi School, Rakhi Mukherjee, said, “The March series has been extremely useful to our students who plan on studying in India universities. Within just a year of introduction we have has more than 300 students taking up the Cambridge IGCSE and International AS and A level qualifications in the March series. It helps students to be at par with the admission time frame as pre the stat enorms, giving them greater flexibility and choices.
At Jamnabai Narsee International School, this year 58 students appeared for the IGCSE examination. Among these students five students have scored above 90% and 22 students have scored above 85% and two students from the school have 100% score in mathematics. Jasmine Madhani, head of the JNIS, said, “These achievements demonstrate the dedication and commitement of teachers, support provided by families as well as determination and passion of our students to excel.”
At Ryan Global School, which has achieved 100% result, total 28 students appeared for the CIE for IGCSE and two students appeared for A-level/ Out of these 6 students have achieved ICE-Distinction and 7 students have achieved ICE merit.
While STEM subjects such as mathematics, physics and Chemistry have made it to list of top five subjects entries in both Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International A level examination, students have also showed increasing interest in subjects such as Environmental management and Global Perspectives. These are newly introduced skill-based subjects that emphasize on real-world context. According to schools these subjects has been important in cultivate critical thinking and research as well as communication abilities among students.
