The Juhu police foiled a 30-year-old and his accomplices’ plan of robbing a jeweller and arrested three of them from Tata compound in Vile Parle (West) on Tuesday afternoon. The main accused, Dutt Raj Bholar, a resident of Lalbaug, had hatched the plan and then recruited the help of first-time offenders, Prashant Pawar and Siddharth Chaurasia, who are college students.

According to the cops, three months ago, Bholar got a job as a driver with a well-known jeweller and started to learn the jeweller’s movements and the workings at the store. During his time as the driver, he learnt that the jeweller would often visit a hotel in Andheri, where he would get all the gold he had, stamped with the Hallmark imprint.
Realising this was his window of opportunity, Bholar hatched a plan and then approached two of his neighbours, Pawar and Chaurasia. Senior Inspector Arun Bhagar of Juhu police station, said, “Bholar lured the two with promises of quick cash and attractive presents and recruited them for his plan.”
However, on Tuesday afternoon, acting on a tip-off, constables B Anuse, Kale and Sawant found five people at the spot and managed to nab three Bholar, Pawar and Chaurasia. They also found a sickle, chilli powder, burqa and women’s make-up.
SI Bhagar added, “Bholar (30), worked as a driver and got all the information he needed to plan a theft. He then included Pawar and Chaurasia in his plan. We have arrested them and they were produced in court yesterday and have been remanded to custody till January 20. Two other accused managed to flee, but we are on the hunt for them.”
