The trio were not only neighbours, but also good friends. Devidas Patil was a conductor in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport while Vilas Joshi was an employee of a private company at Airoli, and Baban Madvi was a businessman. They were going to visit Madvi’s farmhouse at Ambadi, near Vajreshwari on Sunday. Police say in the evening, they were enjoying themselves at a dam, when Madvi slipped and drowned. Joshi and Patil tried to save him but since none of them knew how to swim, they drowned as well.
When they did not return home, their families registered a complaint at the Ganeshpuri police station. Their bodies were found yesterday afternoon. After the Mandvi check post police were informed of three males drowning in Tansa, a team from the Virar police station immediately reached the spot and fished out the bodies. “After panchnama, their bodies have been sent for postmortem and the Ganeshpuri police station will do the further investigation,” said Ranjeet Shirsath, PRO of Palghar district police.
