Many families who decided to spend a blistering Sunday at the newly launched water park, Aquamagica, were left disappointed after they found out that the tickets under the promotional offer had been sold out. Unhappy with the news, visitors, many who were standing outside for more than three hours, argued with the management and security.

As a promotional strategy, Aquamagica has offered an introductory offer of R500 per head till September 30, and tickets were available both online and from the counter. Hundreds of people travelled from different parts of the city to Khalapur, around 90 km from Mumbai, to spend a relaxing day at the water park.

However, they received a rude shock when the ticket counter opened, and after a few tickets were sold, the remaining were told that the tickets were sold out. The water park has also offered an option to book tickets online, but even that showed that passes had been snared.

The management and crowd ended up having a heated argument, which had to be broken up by local cops. While the management offered a discount of 50 per cent for the amusement park, Imagica, as compensation, most did not want to take up the offer after the roller coaster derailment incident in February.

Puneet Oswal, a resident of Mira Road, said, “We reached the place at around 8.30 am and the counter opened around 10 am; still, we were not able to get a ticket.” A few visitors claimed that the management provided incomplete information in the advertisement.

Mousam Kothari, a Bhayander resident, said, “This is a cheap strategy by Imagica’s management to get people to visit their amusement park with the help of incomplete advertisements. We were stranded outside the theme park for more than three hours.”

Shivaji Shivekar, an Andheri resident, claims that the situation was same on Saturday as well, “As I reached the gate of Aquamagica, a security guy asked me if I had booked my ticket online or not. When I said I hadn’t, I was asked to go back home in a rude manner, stating that the tickets had been sold out.”
