Firearms on way to Chota Rajan's aid seized

The Crime Branch Unit 7 arrested a man yesterday for illegal possession of arms and ammunitions. Two pistols and 11 live rounds were recovered by the officials. The accused has been identified as Sanjay Bhagwan Choudhary and apparently, he was present at the spot to hand over the firearms to a person affiliated with Chhota Rajan. He was arrested from Saint John Baptist Road in Bandra West.


According to the crime branch officials, Choudhary had arrived at the spot to deliver firearms to Rajesh Mahadik, who is wanted in many cases by Thane police. Mahadik is an externed accused from Thane district and has been affiliated with the Chota Rajan gang.


Officers got a tip-off that Choudhary was going to arrive at Bandra to hand over the pistols to Mahadik. Under the guidelines of senior police inspector Venkat Patil, a team comprising Police Inspector Sanjay Surve, API Anil Dhole, Santosh Sawant, Sapna Shirsagar, Praveen Patil along with constables Shelar, Arun Jadhav, Sanjay Jadhav, Vijay Jadhav and Pradeep Ghag left for Bandra. They stayed at the spot for hours waiting for Mahadik’s arrival.


Finally, when Mahadik didn’t appear at the spot and Choudhary was about to leave, he was arrested. The police recovered the pistols from inside a Bhagwad Geeta, which had been cut to fit the
pistols inside.

Choudhary has been booked under the case of possessing illegal arms and ammunitions.u00a0
