A sudden blaze occured on the 6th floor of the 13-storeyed Guru Niwas building in Andheri East around 9.30 am.

It originated in a closed flat and was confined to it.
Fire officials suspect a short circuit to be the cause of the fire but did not give confirmation.
Four fire engines were sent to the spot and fire was doused within minutes. No casualties reported.
This is not the first case of fire to be reported from the suburb.
Earlier this month, a fire broke out at Shree Gaurishankar Kedia English School in JB Nagar area of Andheri (West). Fire brigade officials said that the fire has broken out on the terrace of the four-storied school near Chakala metro station. (Read more)

In July last year, one fireman was killed, 20 injured in a major blaze that broke out Lotus Business Park on New Link Road in Andheri (West); it took authorities more than 9 hours to douse the flames.
