It’s been four days since three girls fell into the choppy sea near Bandra Fort. Two were rescued, but the body of 18-year-old Tarannum Ansari is yet to be recovered.

The family members of Tarannum Ansari (18), have been going from one beach to the other hoping to find her body. Her mother, who is in a state of shock, has fallen sick and keeps screaming her daughter’s name. The family has scouted several places including Haji Ali, Bandra, Mahim creek in the search for her body.

Ramesh Walanju had jumped into the sea to save Tarannum and her two friends — Anjum Khan (19) and Kasuri Khan (19) — who all had slipped off a rock jutting in the sea while clicking selfies on Saturday. While Walanju was able to save Anjum and Kasuri, he died trying to save Tarannum. His body was found in Mahim Creek on Monday.

While speaking to mid-day, her uncle Asif Khan said, “We have been going from one place to another in the hope of finding her body so that at least we can perform her last rites. Her mother is in deep shock. Since Saturday, no food has been cooked in our house and neighbours are providing meals.”

mid-day also spoke to Anjum’s uncle, Naseeruddin Khan. “Anjum is in a state of shock after Saturday’s incident and keeps asking for Walanju and Tarannum. She also told us that it was because of Walanju’s bravery that she was saved but when he went back to save Tarannum, a big wave drowned him,” he said.
