Family of deceased DoT official, who committed suicide at Powai hotel finds handwritten note in his diary to support their allegations that he was being harassed by seniors with taunts about his sexuality

Days after an official from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) hanged himself in a Powai hotel, his family members have unearthed a diary entry that could support their allegations that he was being harassed by seniors with taunts about his sexuality.
Sanjeev Rajoria, assistant director general at DoT, was found hanging in a hotel in Powai on August 2. So far, the Powai police have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR). The police are trying to establish if the note found in his diary could be grounds to register an abetment of suicide case under section 306 of the IPC.

The note
Written in pencil in his diary, the note states: "Fam repo at stake. Even that of w and kidz. I'm straight. Have done nothing, so far. B confident. Stay alert! U do it officially. Don't stop others." (sic)
His wife Neelam, in her statement to the police, had earlier alleged that four of his seniors would call him "impotent" and also passed "vulgar and objectionable remarks about his sexuality."
She said the taunts began in March after he did not respond to a female junior's multiple attempts to seduce him and stop her transfer. Neelam alleged that it was possibly because of this harassment that her husband ended his life.
'Match his handwriting'
The family found the diary with his note at home on Sunday and handed it over to the police yesterday. While submitting the diary to the police, Neelam stated in a fresh letter that the agony that her husband was going through had clearly been written with a pencil in his handwriting. She said that it was his personally maintained office diary. All the notes in the diary are related to his office work, except this note. "The writing in the note can be matched with the address and phone number written in the hotel register by my husband," Neelam added.

Meanwhile, the police have completed recording the statements of the four senior officers who allegedly harassed him. "We are examining and checking all the facts in our investigation," said DCP (zone X) Navin Reddy.
