The Bhai Dooj celebrations turned tragic for two families after three of their children drowned in the Kalu river in Titwala, on Tuesday evening. The boys, all related, were swimming when they drowned.

Brothers Jiwan Bhoir (13) and Sainath Sanjay Bhoir (16), and cousin Sainath Santosh Bhoir (9), had gone with their family to meet their sister in Golegaon village, Titwala, to celebrate Bhai Dooj. After dinner, the boys went for a swim nearby Kalu river. Santosh began to drown. When the others tried to pull him out, they, too, drowned.
