Noora, who died of cancer in Dubai yesterday, wanted to be buried next to his father in the city
Noora, gangster Dawood Ibrahim's brother, died yesterday an unhappy man. The 50-year-old had been battling cancer for a while and had wanted to be buried in India. He died early yesterday morning in a sterile room at the American Hospital in Dubai and it is unlikely that his body will be brought back to India.
Noora's close associate VS told MiD DAY from Dubai yesterday that he had even planned to surrender before authorities in a European country, which would expedite his return to India. The plan was to be executed sometime in the next two weeks. Noora believed that if he were extradited to India, the Mumbai police would not be able to charge him in a lot of cases.
Noora had expressed these wishes to VS at his office in Sheikh Ajnan Villa on Al Futhein Street in Dubai recently.
Fallout with Bhai
It has been suspected that a large number of gangsters had returned to Mumbai so that they could form a protective ring around the don's ailing brother when his plan would be put into place. "I don't want to die in Pakistan or Dubai. It is Mumbai where I was born and I want to be buried next to my father's grave," Noora is said to have told VS.
Noora was initially entrusted with looking after the D-company's interest in gutkha production and Bollywood, but he was relieved of his responsibilities after he fell out with Dawood around 2004. In fact, he had not even met Dawood in the past one year.
According to police records, Noora is wanted in connection with the murder of Customs officer Ravindra Jain.
According to red-corner notice A81/2002, Noora was also involved in smuggling fake currency to New Delhi.
Who is Noora?
Noora is the third son in Ibrahim Kaskar's family of 11 children. He started by working as a tinsmith in a garage in Nagpada, not far from Bori Mohalla where he lived in a first floor apartment on Temkar Street. He followed Dawood into the world of crime. Noora even has a few film lyrics to his name, which are believed to have been ghostwritten.
