D Company v/s D Company

Differences have started cropping up among Dawood Ibrahim's henchmen, with many turning informers after a fallout with the don

Cracks have started appearing in the D Company in Mumbai. Many of Dawood's former henchmen have turned police informers, leaking information about the underworld. The D Company is now out there bumping them off and taking revenge.

Only recently, a Dawood henchman-turned-police informer was stabbed to death. Three men have been arrested for the murder of Mohammed Irfan Maqbool Khan alias Chindi (35) and investigations revealed that the accused committed the crime, as they nursed a grudge against Khan ever since he tipped off the police about them.

According to sources, Khan was involved with the D Company, but later had a fallout with the don and started his own real estate business. As a budding builder, Khan may have crossed paths with his former associates (Dawood's men) and cops suspect that a property dispute may have led to the murder.

"Though Khan was a trusted informer, we suspect he and a majority of his associates rubbed shoulders with the
D Company," said additional commissioner of police (south region) Dr K Venkatesh.u00a0

Police conspiracy?

However, Khan's associates allege that the police connived with Khan's killers.

Danish Patel, one of Khan's associates, said, "Members of the Dawood gang are responsible for killing Khan. Dozens of police informers in south Mumbai, who earlier worked with the don, have been trained under the tutelage of Khan." He also added that Dawood's henchmen have killed six such informers in the past 18 months for turning against the gang and more killings could be possible.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

Another police informer from the Tandoor Wadi area near Nagpada police station said Khan was killed by at least a dozen gangsters, but only three have been nabbed by the police. "The suspects have not been arrested, as they are very close to Dawood," he added.

Khan's associates have named one Chhote Miyan for plotting the murder. The police have arrested Irfan Yusuf Mushtaq Khan (25), Irfan Abdul Sheikh (33) and Sheikh Suleiman Mohinuddin alias Papa (32) from Nagpada for the murder.

Khan's family was into the scrap business earlier, which is why he acquired the nickname Chindi. He was considered very close to slain police inspector Vijay Salaskar.
