The Palghar police have filed a closure report in the local court in the case of two girls who were arrested for a Facebook post.
Last month, the state home department had directed the local police to file a closure report in the case filed against the two girls over an innocuous Facebook status posted during the bandh on the day following Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s death.

On November 18, police arrested Shaheen Dhada who made a Facebook post questioning the shutdown after Thackeray’s death on November 17. Her friend Rinu Srinivasan who had ‘liked’ the post was also arrested. A private hospital owned by one of the girl’s relatives was also vandalised.
The girls were released only after paying Rs 15,000 bonds each. The Thane superintendent of police and Palghar police station sub-inspector were suspended following the controversy.u00a0
