A special court in Mumbai on Wednesday rejected a plea filed by former Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal seeking interim bail to celebrate Holi with his family.

The NCP leaders' interim bail application stated, “Since the Hindu Holi festival is there on 23rd and 24th March, 2016 and it is a very auspicious days and for all Indian it is a very great day and since he is having the reputation and respect for all the communities and as there are four days holidays from 24th to 27th March, 2016 and he has got his family with whom he would celebrate the said festival.”

Special prosecutor Hiten Venegavkar objected to the interim bail application, saying, “There is no provision in Prevention of Money laundering Act (PMLA) for granting bail and there is no question in granting bail in such a matter.

In his application, Bhujbal said, “He has been helping the downtrodden and poor people including the farmers and other persons and also helping disabled persons and he commands respect in the society at large and infact he has been the good citizen of the nation and he has been very good administrator and also Minister at various
capacities including home and public work department but he has been
victim of rival persons.”

The special PMLA court Judge P R Bhavke rejected the application.
