Senior IAS officer Chandra Iyengar was on Tuesday named Maharashtra's Additional Chief Secretary (Home).

Senior IAS officer Chandra Iyengar was on Tuesday named Maharashtra's Additional Chief Secretary (Home).


She succeeds another woman IAS officer Chitkala Zutshi, who retired today, official sources said.


The 59-year-old Iyengar has vast administrative experience, having served in various departments like Revenue, Finance, Health, Industries and Energy.


Iyengar, who belongs to the 1973 batch, is a post-graduate in History. She has also completed a year-long training course in planning and programme implementation in the United Kingdom in 1993.

Expressing happiness over the appointment, Iyengar said that she would try to do full justice to the job.
