Meanwhile, four corporators -- Thane NCP president Najeeb Mulla, leader of the opposition in the Thane Municipal Corporation Hanumant Jagdale (also NCP) -- and two other corporators -- Vikram Chavan of Congress and independent corporator Sudhakar Chavan -- today sought anticipatory bail in connection with the case.
The court kept the interim relief hearing of Chavan on October 29 and the other three corporators on October 31.
The Thane police have been gathering several documents and carrying out raids at various departments in Thane Municipal Corporation to gather evidence against the corporators who were named by Parmar in his suicide note.
Parmar, head of Comsos group who shot himself dead at a construction site on October 7, had said in his 18-page suicide note that he was facing harassment from a nexus of officials and corporators of TMC who were blocking clearances for his projects.
Parmar's family in a press conference had given a clean chit to TMC officers fearing that they would block their existing projects.
Meanwhile, in what is a big step in getting justice for Parmar, Thane’s Police Commissioner Parambir Singh and Joint Commissioner of Police V V Laxminarayana have decided to appoint Raja Thakare as special public prosecutor and have managed to get government permission for the appointment.
