The body of Akshay Miranda, the 22 year old student, who was trapped in Fox glacier in New Zealand last week was recovered on Thursday by rescue officials.

Akshay and older brother Ashish (24) died in an accident on the slopes of the glacier last week when an ice shelf collapsed on them. They were holidaying with their parents Ronnie and Winnie there.u00a0

New Zealand authorities made the breakthrough yesterday when they spotted a red cap on a riverbed about 500m from the glacier. They found Akshay's body shortly after, 10km downstream on a gravel island in the Fox River.

The brothers with their parents had migrated to Melbourne, Australia from Mumbai a decade ago. The Mirandas were residents of I.C. colony in Borivali.
