BMC to use tablets in school to create awareness about dengue

Along with Maharashtra Education Department, the Municipal Education Department will create awareness about dengue in Mumbai, at the school level. For this they will use tablets already given to students.

Last year, BMC approved the distribution of free tablets to Standard VIII and IX students across all municipal schools, intending to replace textbooks and reduce school bag weight.

Now BMC will update the tablets with a new interesting feature that will make school students aware about dengue and other monsoon prone diseases. It will inform students about the symptoms, prevention, and precautions against dengue, viral fever and other seasonal diseases.

“BMC is constantly working towards people’s health and citizen awareness, and this new feature introduced in the tablets will definitely be an effective means of awareness amongst young children,” said Deputy Municipal Education Officer, Dr JR Karodkar.
