Last year in their annual auction of offerings the Lalbaugcha Raja, mandal collected a whopping Rs 2.12 crore. But come Sunday, the mandal believes they are likely to beat that mark.

The Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal is hosting the third and final day of the auction on Sunday, and is expecting a minimum of 500 footfalls. Already, Rs 134.42 lakh has been collected via auctions in the last two days.
The items that are expected to fetch high sums are usually reserved for the final day. These items, that will be auctioned off from 6 pm onwards, include, a 610 gram-heavy gold necklace worth at least Rs 17 lakh, a gold piece which weighs about 1 kilograms (worth Rs 28 lakh), a lotus-like gold piece with a pearl on top weighing 121 grams (worth Rs 3.36 lakh), a wrist watch (Rs 2.15 lakh), including other gold and silver ornaments including many huge silver Modaks. One of the unique pieces that will be up for auction is a silver sword that weighs one kilogram. It is worth Rs 65,000 but the mandal expects to be able to secure at least Rs 1 lakh.
Rajendra Lanjwal, treasurer of the mandal, said, "We are sure to cross last year's auction mark of 2.12 crore."
