However, this special tariff will be offered and applicable only for two days. This special fare will be up for sale only on September 3 and 4, and travel under the offer can only be taken January 16, 2015 onwards.
Some days back, SpiceJet had come up with the special fare of Rs.499. The sale was made applicable for bookings made between September 2014 (both dates inclusive) and the travel dates had to be detween October 16 and 24 in 2015 (both dates inclusive).
However, the airline’s official website crashed. But unlike Air India where it’s special offer was applicable only on it’s official website, SpiceJet tickets can be booked through agents, various booking portals and even at the airline’s airport office.
SpiceJet, which has been rolling out heavy discounts on its ticket prices, starting January this year, had yesterday claimed to have sold more one lakh ticket in a single day under its Rs 499 special fares scheme.
Air India, the country’s national carrier, while celebrating ‘Air India Day’ on August 27 launched the Air India Offer for its travelers. Under the scheme tickets were offered for Rs.100 apart from all applicable taxes. The sale of these tickets was made only through the Air India website for five days from August 27 to 31. This was made available to people wanting to travel between August 27 and September 30 of the current year. However, unable to handle the huge number of passengers wanting to book their tickets under the ‘tickets for Rs.100’ offer, the airline’s website crashed on the very first day due to the Rs.100 tickets offer.
