A special court here on Tuesday issued non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against 22 absconding Pakistanis wanted in connection with the 26/11 terrorist attacks.

Accepting a plea by Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, Special Judge ML Tahilyani passed the order this afternoon.

Only one Pakistani citizen, Mohammed Ajmal Amir alias Qasab, is currently in custody and undergoing trial for his role in the 26/11 attacks. His nine accomplices were gunned down during the 60-hour operations by the combined security forces during Nov 26-28 last year.

However, investigations by various Indian agencies, Qasab's confession and intelligence inputs have pointed to the involvement of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the mayhem.

The 11,500-plus-page charge sheet filed by Mumbai Police in the 26/11 case also named 35 wanted accused, including LeT commanders Zarar Shah, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi among others.

Nikam had on Monday urged that the court should issue NBWs since the addresses of 27 of the 35 wanted accused were available with the Indian government.
